About this Event
**Description:**
This play therapy training is designed for school social workers, school counselors, psychologists, and other professionals working in educational settings who are interested in incorporating play therapy techniques to support the emotional, social, and behavioral development of students. Play therapy is an effective approach for helping children express themselves, resolve conflicts, and navigate challenging emotions in a safe and supportive environment. In this training, participants will learn how to integrate play therapy into the school environment, providing children with the opportunity to communicate and process their feelings through play, while also promoting a positive, inclusive, and healing atmosphere in the classroom.
The training will explore various play therapy modalities, offer practical strategies for applying play therapy within school settings, and provide tools for creating a therapeutic space that fosters emotional growth and resilience. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of how to use play as a therapeutic tool to enhance students' social-emotional learning (SEL), reduce anxiety and behavioral issues, and improve overall mental health outcomes.

Gain a solid understanding of the principles of play therapy, including its theoretical foundations, and how it can be effectively used within a school context to support children's emotional and psychological development.
2. **Identify Common Behavioral and Emotional Challenges in Students**
Learn to recognize signs of anxiety, trauma, grief, and other emotional or behavioral difficulties in students, and explore how play therapy can address these issues to promote healing and emotional resilience.
3. **Develop Play Therapy Techniques and Approaches for Classroom and Counseling Settings**
Acquire practical skills for integrating play therapy techniques into everyday classroom and counseling settings, including using toys, art, sand play, and storytelling to encourage self-expression and problem-solving in children.
4. **Create Therapeutic Environments that Support Play-Based Interventions**
Learn how to establish a safe, nurturing, and supportive space where students can freely express themselves through play, both in one-on-one and group settings, and create an atmosphere conducive to healing and emotional growth in special populations.
5. **Integrate Play Therapy with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Curricula**
Explore how play therapy can complement and enhance existing SEL programs, helping students develop emotional awareness, empathy, conflict resolution skills, and self-regulation through play-based activities.
6. **Develop Effective Communication Strategies with Parents and Staff**
Gain insights on how to communicate the benefits of play therapy to parents, teachers, and school administrators, and learn strategies for involving families and other school personnel in the therapeutic process to ensure holistic support for students.
