9:00–10:30 a.m. | ACEs, Resilience, and Your Role in Strengthening Families
Presented by Tamaé Memole, Co-Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse New York

As awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) grows, so does the need for meaningful action that builds resilience. Tamaé Memole will introduce participants to the ACEs Study, explore the importance of intentionally strengthening resilience, and offer practical, everyday strategies grounded in the Protective Factors Framework.

With more than 30 years of nonprofit and government experience, Tamaé is a nationally certified Protective Factors Framework trainer who has prepared more than 2,000 participants across New York State. Participants will deepen their understanding of resilience, engage in a strength-based perspective shift, and leave with concrete tools to help build resilience in children and families.

11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. | All You Have to Do Is Care: Influence of Parental and Teacher Acceptance-Rejection on Children’s Developmental Outcomes
Presented by Sumbleen Ali, PhD, Assistant Professor, SUNY Oneonta Department of Human Development and Social Work

How do warmth, care, and emotional support from adults shape children’s lives? Drawing on Interpersonal Acceptance-Rejection Theory (IPARTheory) and cross-cultural research, Dr. Ali will examine how parental and teacher acceptance—or rejection—can influence children’s social, emotional, behavioral, and academic development.

This engaging lecture will highlight the essential role educators and caregivers play in fostering positive developmental outcomes, strengthening emotional well-being, and supporting children’s long-term success.
