Schallmauer und Projektionsfläche - Berliner Mauer im Musikvideo

Vor 65 Jahren, am 13.08.1961, wurde die Berliner Mauer errichtet. 28 Jahre lang war sie gleichzeitig Symbol und Mittel der Teilung Deutschlands während des Kalten Krieges.
Bereits vereinzelt in den 1960ern und 1970ern, aber vor allem in den 1980ern, das letzte Jahrzehnt der geteilten Stadt und der ersten Blütezeit des Musikvideos, wurden an der Mauer Musikclips gedreht und Performanceaktionen durchgeführt, deren mediale Dokumentation Teil des Kunstwerkes waren. Meistens fand das auf Westseite statt, aber auch auf Ostseite, trotz „Mauerfilmverbot“, gab es klandestine Aufnahmen und wagemutige Aktionen. Auch nach 1989 bleibt das ehemalige Grenzgebiet ein Ort, in dem Konflikte wie z.B. zwischen Gentrifizierung und erhalt von subkulturellen Biotopen ausgetragen werden. Wie gingen diese Werke mit der Mauer um und welches Echo trugen sie in die Welt?
Das Programm zeigt Musikvideos sowie musikbasierte Medienkunst und Performances aus sechs Jahrzehnten, im Rahmen der Präsentation des Online-Mapping-Projekts Schallmauer und Projektionsfläche – Die Berliner Mauer im Musikvideo.

65 years ago, on August 13, 1961, the Berlin Wall was erected. For 28 years, it served as both a symbol and the means of Germany’s division during the Cold War.
Already sporadically in the 1960s and 1970s, but especially in the 1980s — the final decade of the divided city and the first heyday of music video — music clips were shot and performance art pieces staged at the Wall, with their media documentation forming part of the artworks themselves. Most of this took place on the West side, but even on the East side—despite a ban on filming at the Wall — footage was clandestinely shot and daring actions took place. Even after 1989, the former border area remains a place of conflict, such as between gentrification and the preservation of subcultural biotopes. How did these works deal with the Wall, and how did they resonate into the world?
The program features music videos as well as music-based media art and performances spanning six decades, as part of the presentation of the online mapping project Wall of Sound and Projection Screen – The Berlin Wall in Music Videos.
Featuring films by/with: Die tödliche Doris, Rio Reiser, Depeche Mode, Silly, Herbst in Peking, Per Lüke & Wieland Speck, Gerd Kroske/Jürgen Kuttner/Uwe Baumgärtner/Mario Persch, David Hasselhoff, and others.
