Anton Sconosciuto & Philippa Godsalve are meeting in small fragments of time cast into the phrenetic London mess.
Anton Sconosciuto is a drummer and composer focusing on practices from producing to live experimental music.
Philippa Godsalve is a harpist, composer and experimental musician with roots in folk music.
Channeling the fragmented experience of living in London through improvisation, they aim to recreate the sense of overwhelm which is inherent in contemporary metropolitan life. This is achieved both conceptually and practically, as the material is developed within such small periods of time for which the pressure of this hurry becomes part of the artistic practice.
Their practice is rooted in the philosophy of free improvisation, the sound of which is shaped by tape, resampling and electronic processing. They work on the pairing of one of the most ancient (harp) and one of the most contemporary (the drumset) instruments by squishing them together in often overlapping and indistinguishable percussive sound worlds, while hiding electronic elements inside of their acoustic body with the aid of bone conduction speakers.
