Get ready to party! As part of 'Scarborough Fringe', Scarborough Jazz is excited to present an evening of Brazilian-inspired music featuring ‘Carioca Soul’, a 7 piece band performing the repertoire of Sergio Mendes Brasil 66 and contemporary tunes inspired by his legacy. Sergio Mendes blended the popular songs of the west with Brazilian rhythms and is recognised for his tasteful yet energy-infused arrangements - performed by a band with an established reputation and featuring musicians from across the region.
Support comes from a collaboration between the ‘New Jazz Generation’ collective of young people who regularly perform at the club tonight teamed up with local percussionists to give the music a special Brazillian twist.
Inbetween the live music there'll also be a soundtrack of Brazilian grooves curated by DJ Filey Selassie.
Entry is on the door only (no advance tickets) and is just £5 (half price if you're in full time education). Doors 7:45pm, music begins 8-ish.
