About this Event
Months after the Eaton Fire, scammers are still actively targeting survivors, and older adults are bearing the brunt of it.
Today, with the help from a transformational gift from the Wells Fargo Foundation, the San Diego Seniors Community Foundation (SDSCF) and Pasadena Village are fighting back, bringing this FREE elder fraud prevention workshop directly to the heart of the Eaton Fire community. It is happening Wednesday, March 18 at The Collaboratory, in Altadena from 10:00 - 12:00pm. In the months since the fires, a second and even more wave of destruction has followed: unlicensed contractors, FEMA impersonators, phony insurance adjusters, and disaster relief fraudsters have swarmed fire-affected neighborhoods, with older adults among their most targeted victims.
This workshop is designed to address those threats head-on and features presenter Lisa Carroll, a Certified Fraud Examiner with more than 25 years of experience, helping communities understand and prevent financial exploitation. Her sessions are known for being practical, engaging, and free of jargon which gives attendees real tools they can use immediately.
She will specifically address disaster - and wildfire-related fraud, including insurance claim scams, fraudulent contractor solicitation, and FEMA benefit exploitation.
Free rides to the event are available; simply request one at registration or by emailing [email protected].
