Scam Jam 2026
About this Event
AI can clone a voice. A text can look like it came from your bank. A “great deal” can cost you thousands.
Do you feel prepared to spot a scam before it’s too late?
Join us for Scam Jam 2026 on Wednesday, September 23 from 9:00 AM–3:15 PM at the Athens Community Council on Aging (135 Hoyt St.), a day of expert-led sessions designed to help you recognize today’s scams and know what to do when something doesn’t feel right.
Scams are changing fast, and older adults are often among the people targeted. Scam Jam brings together experts in fraud prevention, financial security, technology, consumer protection, law enforcement, and community resources to help you protect yourself and the people you love.
What You’ll Learn
Throughout the day, we’ll cover:
- AI, deepfake, and technology scams
- Banking and mortgage scams
- Predatory lending
- Common warning signs and red flags
- How to protect your personal and financial information
- What to do and where to turn if you encounter a scam
- And more
You’ll have opportunities to ask questions, hear practical advice from experts, connect with local resources, and leave feeling more confident about recognizing and responding to scams.
Tickets are $15 and include event admission and a boxed lunch.
Come ready to learn, ask questions, and become a more confident scam spotter. We hope to see you there!
