About this Event

Aim

This workshop aims to provide you with insights, skills and resources which will support you to shout about the impact of your archive.

This in-person interactive session will include:

  • The context for advocacy – understanding wider organisational and sector priorities.
  • The value of your work – identifying where your work aligns with wider priorities.
  • Making use of data – using metrics, case studies and stories to make your case.
  • Presenting - what tools and techniques can help you improve communications.
  • Managing the message – tailoring to internal and external audiences.

Who should attend?

This workshop is aimed at Archivists, Archive Managers, and Heads of Service working across Scotland in any archive setting. It will be of interest to anyone asking the following questions:

  • How can I improve the metrics I am collecting and communicating?
  • How do I best present our work?
  • What tools can I use to influence decisions?
  • How can I get to be at the decision-making table?
  • How can we develop our relationship with funders, parent bodes and the public?

The workshop will include a mixture of group activity, presentations and case study speakers. Participants will be asked to undertake a short task in advance to help them prepare for the day.
