About this Event
This event's indicative . At this warm, welcoming, and inclusive event, you are invited to delve into a selection of invigorating 5-minute talks from over 45+ colleagues to connect, share and celebrate research and knowledge exchange across disciplines in the Faculty of Society and Culture (S+C).
The aim is simple – to create spaces to enable and enjoy human connection and research.
LJMU staff, research students and invited guests will enjoy:
- Moving performances from Joseph Roberts, the Scouse poet sensation, our very own ukulele group, as well as ‘open-mic’ opportunities.
- Choice of carefully curated sessions of 5-minute ‘talks’ plus time for open and informal conversations with our very own S+C colleagues.
- Adventure across all of our schools, crossing disciplinary boundaries for new relationships and collaborative opportunities.
- Appreciation of people in Society and Culture who were nominated for university research and knowledge exchange awards this year.
“Words mean more than what is set down on paper.
It takes the human voice to infuse them with deeper meaning”

The indicative .
As you register for the event, we invite you to select only one session from each of the parallel sessions so we can ensure you and other participants have a comfortable and safe experience.
Use the above link to see colleagues and outlines of their talks. Make a note of the number at the top left of each session e.g. 1.1, 2.4, and 3.3 - you'll need to this to register for the event.
Please arrive for a 10am start. Blackburne House will provide us with refreshments throughout the day and a delicious lunch made with love.
Photographs will be taken during the event to document our time together. If you do not want your photograph taken please let the photographers know.
Curator's note: Each session has been carefully curated, reflecting shared threads across the talks (rather than schools or research centre/institutes). This curation leaves space for drift from, and adventure across, disciplinary boundaries, and is expected to be directed by the conversations between the session speakers and participants.
