Ever wondered what it would mean if we could edit DNA almost like editing a line of text?
Gene editing is a way of making precise changes to DNA, the biological “instruction manual” that tells living cells how to grow, function, and respond. By changing specific parts of these instructions, scientists can study how genes work and explore new ways to understand diseases and develop future treatments. But how does gene editing help researchers to study diseases and how could these technologies be applied in future treatments?

Speakers:
- Prof. Kate Quinlan, University of New South Wales (UNSW). Her research explores how transcription factors regulate gene expression and how this knowledge can be applied to search for new therapeutic strategies for genetic blood diseases and obesity.
- Dr. Lachlan Staker, postdoctoral researcher in the School of Ph*rm*cy and Biomedical Sciences, Adelaide University. His work focuses on establishing a novel gene-editing strategy for blindness caused by harmful genetic mutations.
