About this Event

Host Azar King with open mic! Feature poet Moe Flowz of Richmond! Whether you are a veteran spoken word artist or stepping up to the microphone for the very first time, our stage welcomes all poetry styles. Come celebrate community, culture, and self-expression in a warm, listening room environment. Coffee Underground. 1 East Coffee Street. Greenville, SC 29601. Doors open at 7:00 pm.
Dr. Maurice “Moeflowz” Brown is a poet, educator, and community builder whose work lives at the intersection of mathematics, storytelling, and cultural empowerment. A retired U.S. Army veteran with 24 years of service, he holds a Ph.D., along with bachelor’s and master’s degrees Virginia State University. As a spoken word artist known as “Moeflowz,” Dr. Brown uses poetry as both mirror and megaphone; exploring identity, Black excellence, liberation, masculinity, vulnerability, and truth. His performances and programs center empowerment through language, encouraging audiences to think critically, feel deeply, and move intentionally. Whether in the classroom or on the stage, Dr. Brown’s mission is consistent: to equip people with the tools to solve problems, tell their stories, and stand confidently in their voice.

Taking the Stage: We love a packed lineup, so open mic slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis when doors open. To make sure everyone gets a chance to shine, please keep it to one poem under 4 minutes including intro. If time allows, we will host a second round.
$10. TICKETS AT THE DOOR: If seats are still available at showtime, we will happily take tickets at the door via tap, credit card, Cash App ($witsendpoetry), PayPal, Venmo or cash.
