About this Event

You know what you do is valuable. So why is it so b***dy difficult to explain it?

You’re at a networking event and someone asks, “So, what do you do?”

You start explaining.

Then you add a bit more context. And another thing you offer. And perhaps an example to make the first bit clearer.

Their eyes glaze over.

And five minutes later, you’re walking away thinking, “Why didn’t I just say THAT?”

If that sounds familiar, Say It So They Want It is for you.

This practical, hands-on workshop is for business owners who are brilliant at what they do — but find it much harder to explain what they sell in a way that makes other people understand it, remember it and, crucially, want it.

Maybe your offer has become too complicated. Maybe you offer so many things that you don’t know which one to lead with. Perhaps you hate the idea of “pitching” yourself. Or maybe you know exactly what you mean, but somehow the words that come out of your mouth never sound quite as good as they did in your head.

We’re going to work on that.

What we'll do

Over two practical hours, Mel Byron and Vicky Labinger will help you look at both what you’re selling and how you’re saying it.

You’ll work on the language you use to describe your offer, strip away the bits that are making it harder to understand, and find a clearer and more compelling way to talk about what you do.

But we’re not going to leave it sitting nicely on a piece of paper.

You’ll actually say it.

Because the moment someone asks what you do at a networking event, in a meeting or during a sales conversation, you don't get three days to polish the wording. You need to be able to explain it naturally, clearly and confidently.

So you’ll get the chance to try out your improved message in a friendly, real-world environment and discover what happens when you actually say the words out loud.

You'll leave with:

• A much clearer way of explaining what you sell
• Stronger, simpler language around your offer
• A better understanding of what your potential customers actually need to hear
• A pitch that sounds like you, rather than something copied from a sales textbook
• Practical experience of saying it to real people
• More confidence when someone asks, “So, what do you do?”

Most importantly, you should leave knowing how to talk about what you sell in a way that makes it much easier for the right person to think:

“Yes. That’s what I need.”

Who's running it?

Mel Byron is a speaker, comedian and speaking coach who helps people become clearer, more confident and more engaging when they speak. As a comedian, she also knows rather a lot about what happens when you've got a room full of people and your words aren't landing quite as you'd hoped.

Vicky Labinger is a networking expert who understands what actually happens when business owners have to explain themselves in the real world — not just on a beautifully polished website. She helps people make better connections, have better conversations and turn networking into something that genuinely works for their business.

Together, we'll tackle both sides of the problem: finding the right thing to say — and getting comfortable actually saying it.
