The Songwriter's Association of Washington Open Mic at the New Deal Cafe is hosted by Lynn Hollyfield and is the FIRST Tuesday of the Month with a featured artist. For November, Bett Padgett will be the featured artist. Sign ups start at 6PM for 2songs/10 minutes. OM 6:30-8 and 8:30-9:30. Bett performs 8-8:30PM. Bett is a master storyteller through music. Her musical journey blends laughter, tears, and thought-provoking moments. With a unique mix of music, history, and storytelling, she ‘edutains’ listeners, addressing societal and political issues with concern, humor, and honesty. Her songs about life, love, and caring resonate deeply with her audiences. With her mastery of multiple instruments including guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano, and harp, Bett’s music transcends genres like Celtic, Old-time, Folk, and New Age. Having supported many aspiring musicians in her career as a music teacher and house concert presenter, Bett has finally pursued her dream as a writer and performer. Her most recent albums have garnered the number 4, 6 and 11 spots on Folk Music Radio. She is excited about releasing her eleventh CD, “Beneath Blue Water”, in the fall of 2024.
