About this Event

Savor the Square, in collaboration with the Shaw-Roxbury Library and Frugal Bookstore, presents the Fourth Annual Greater Roxbury Book Fair. On Saturday, May 16 from 9am to 5pm at the Shaw-Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library, join us as we champion a love of books and local authors. This vibrant celebration of storytelling creates space for discovery and cultivates a broader community of readers.

The Book Fair will have panels, workshops, local author and literary organization exhibitors. Local and BIPOC authors from the Greater Roxbury area and beyond will be in the spoltlight, including featured guests:

  • Massachusetts Book Award-winning author Kellie Carter Jackson (We Refuse)
  • Newbery Honor-winning author Lesa Cline-Ransome (One Big Open Sky)

And other featured authors include:

  • Alison Barnet (South End Incident)
  • Kathleen Choi (Giving Thanks with Halmoni)
  • Briana Crockett (The Growing Place)
  • Emmanuel Oppong-Yeboah (not without small joys)
  • Gwendolyn Wallace (Dancing with Water)
  • And many more!

What is Savor the Square?

Savor the Square is a culturally inspired economic development program of TACC that combines existing brick-and-mortar businesses and BIPOC vendors into one marketplace in the form of seven monthly themed events annually from April through October at the Shaw-Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library Plaza. Launched in 2023, the Greater Roxbury Book Fair is one such event. It is a collaborative effort with the Shaw-Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library, Frugal Bookstore, and the Roxbury community.

What is the Book Fair?

The Greater Roxbury Book Fair is a Savor the Square event hosted by TACC in collaboration with the Shaw-Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library and Frugal Bookstore. It is supported by TACC, the Fellowes Athenaeum Trust, the Boston Foundation, the Roxbury YMCA, Roxbury Community College, Massachusetts Center for Books, Tropical Foods, the Mayor's Office of Economic Inclusion, Cultivating Changemakers, and Santander Bank.
