Specifically aimed at dealing with Emergency First Aid for newborns and babies under the age of 1. This four-hour course carries a HealthFirst Certificate of Attendance and builds essential knowledge and skills in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and life-threatening medical emergency situations. During this hands-on training, we will cover:
- Call for emergency help in Switzerland and what to say.
- How to give Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to babies, including practise on realistic manikins.
- The causes of unconsciousness in babies and how to put an unconscious baby into a safe position (the ‘Recovery Position’).
- First aid for choking in the first year of life.
- Fever in children under the age of 1 - what to do, what not to do.
- Recognising meningitis and sepsis and how to respond.
- Febrile seizures - why they can happen and what to do.
- Sudden infant death syndrome - what we know and how to reduce the risk.
