Join us for a Tech Talk CE event designed for veterinary technicians and assistants!
Every patient leaves clues, can you recognize what they’re telling you? In this interactive session, we’ll investigate the signs of pain in dogs and cats and uncover the tools needed to provide better patient care.
Participants will learn how pain affects the body, how to identify physiologic and behavioral indicators of pain, and how to distinguish between acute pain, chronic pain, and central sensitization (wind-up). We’ll also explore pain scoring tools, the importance of multimodal analgesia, and the role of common analgesic drug classes in managing patient comfort.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
• Explain how pain impacts normal physiology.
• Recognize physiologic and behavioral signs of pain in dogs and cats.
• Differentiate acute pain, chronic pain, and central sensitization (wind-up).
• Apply appropriate pain scoring tools in clinical practice.
• Understand the benefits of multimodal analgesia and common analgesic drug classes.
