At last! After a year of planning, Mittens for Detroit is hosting a fun afternoon where you can learn how to sew upcycled mittens! This workshop is led by the amazing Mary Bajcz, one of MFD's most prolific upcycled MittenMakers! Check out Mary's videos to see some of her amazing work - youtube.com/@ScraphappinessStudioThis wonderful opportunity to work with Mary and find out how to create beautiful warm, durable mittens comes just in time for the holidays! There will be a formal RSVP process, and we are limited to 20 guests for this event. There is no fee, but a donation of a pair of new, warm, durable mittens or gloves would be welcomed.
We'll meet at the Mittens for Detroit office in the First National Building. Our building is located RIGHT next to Detroit's Christmas Tree and the little shops on Cadillac Square. You'll be able to enjoy the fun of the holidays downtown before or after the workshop because you will be RIGHT THERE! We will provide kits, you'll bring your basic sewing kit. You can be at any skill level. This is an 18 years and older event... and if you are younger, just bring your grown-up with you!
A light lunch will be served right at 11:30, giving you some time to eat, talk and network. You'll be able to see what goes on at Mittens for Detroit and learn a little more about us. If you have ever wondered what happens after you donate your mittens, you'll find out!
**You'll need to bring your sewing machine, and we will help you get it into the building.**
More details to follow. Feel free to share this event.
