Israel has just held an election and the composition of it’s incoming government remains uncertain. But what is certain is that whether led by Netanyahu or not, the incoming government will remain committed to the genocide of Gaza, expanding settlements in the West Bank and the occupation of southern Lebanon.
The bloc opposing Netanyahu is led by General Gadi Eisenkot, the IDF’s former Chief of Staff credited with developing the "Dahiya Doctrine". The doctrine calls for massive, disproportionate force against civilians and civilian infrastructure. In Eisenkot's own words "We will apply disproportionate force on it and cause great damage and destruction there. From our standpoint, these are not civilian villages, they are military bases".
The election outcome may change the facade, but it can’t transform a state based on apartheid, settler colonialism and ethnic cleansing. Ending the occupation, starvation and slaughter of Palestinians will require economic, diplomatic and especially military sanctions.
