SAVE COMMUNITY CATS: RALLY FOR MORE FUNDED DESEXING & EFFECTIVE EDUCATION & ENGAGEMENT WITH VOLUNTARY CAT CONTAINMENT SYDNEY
Martin Place start, proceed to Parliament House for "group" photo.
This rally is our second following
- the Aug 2025 rally,
- the outcomes from the NSW Inquiry Management of Cat Populations,
- NSW govt funded KCSAH initiatives for desexing & human change behaviour program to significantly increase desexing cats and improving responsible ownership etc.
We now seek:
1. more funding at least double the original budget
2. an increased scope for more councils to be involved
as this will more rapidly provide benefits for owners and semi owners, cats and reduce impacts on wildlife through voluntary cat containment.
We cannot allow the cat crisis to continue in over 75% of NSW councils! We need to expand the humane methods approved from the scientific evidence of the NSW Inquiry.
Refer RSPCA NSW Supplementary document under the Inquiry, for detailed evidence of the success of their initiatives.
And refer other domestic cat experts for: their findings and recommendations which also support the desexing and education/ behaviour change approaches; and support specific local research on domestic cats and impacts to wildlife, specific prioritised responses.
