Join us for a guided group walk along segment D of the Savannah–Ogeechee Canal from Quacco Rd to I-16, to experience the trail firsthand, learn some of its history, and explore its future potential.🅿️ Please park along Canal Bank Road and meet at the trailhead just off Quacco Road.
This walk is intended to:
• Get new people on the canal trail and show what already exists
• Share the long-term vision outlined in the Master Plan
• Create space for conversation with neighbors, advocates, and local leaders

9:00–9:15 – Meet up, welcome, overview
9:15–10:30 – Group walk along the canal section from Quacco Road towards I-16
10:30–11:00 – Hang out, questions, discussion, next steps
This is not a work day, no tools needed. Future volunteer work days and trail projects will be scheduled separately. This walk is about visibility, learning, and connection to the space for those who care about this project.
The Savannah Ogeechee Canal has the potential to become a major walking and biking connector through Chatham County, linking neighborhoods, parks, historic sites, and waterways, while supporting recreation, tourism, and local people-first development.
We hope to see nearby residents, hikers, cyclists, environmental and historic preservation advocates, and city and county officials, planners, and staff. Come walk, listen, ask questions, and help imagine what’s possible when this historic resource is fully realized.
Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water, and expect lightly uneven terrain in some places
