About this Event
ABOUT THE CUISINE
Saudi Arabian and Uyghur cuisine blends rich Middle Eastern spices with Central Asian traditions, creating vibrant, flavourful, and comforting dishes. From hand-stretched noodles and dumplings to sweet sesame and date desserts, the food is colourful, social, and made to be shared. Meals are deeply communal, reflecting the warmth, hospitality, and culinary heritage of these cultures.
ABOUT THE CHEF
A message from chef Sana:
“Hi, My name is Sana. I moved here from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2013. I have lived the majority of my life there. Culturally I am Uyghur, an ethnic Muslim minority located in Central Asia (now part of China called Xinjiang). The dishes I teach in my class are a mix of the two cultures I come from. I learned to cook from my Mum. She used to call my sisters and me to assist her with cooking. I was her main helper, especially when it came to pulling noodles.
When I was in high school and had our summer holiday, my mum trusted me enough to cook for the family and I insisted she write me the recipes with every little detail. I got paid for it! My mum taught me to cook several cuisines from around the world but my favourites were Saudi & Uyghur. Even though I have explored hundreds of dishes living in London, Laghman is the most delicious dish (In my personal opinion!”

THE CLASS FORMAT
Our cookery classes are family-style - meaning everyone works together to prepare the dishes as a team.
While you’ll be asked to choose one dish to focus on, you’ll have the opportunity to move around the kitchen, help with other dishes, and learn from each recipe. It’s a fun, social, and collaborative way to cook! At the end of the class, you’ll sit down with the chef, class facilitator and volunteers to enjoy the delicious meal you’ve created together.
