January 10, Alexander Brondarbit.
Alexander is the author of two books on the Wars of the Roses, Alexander Brondarbit specializes in kingship and the aristocracy in the medieval and early modern eras. His Ph.D. thesis was completed at Winchester in 2015 on the political power-brokers of Yorkist England and his ongoing research continues to investigate the political careers of these men and women. His work focuses on issues of lordship, patronage, bastard-feudal connections, and the evolving collaboration between the Crown and the greater aristocracy. He received an M.A. with Merit in Medieval Studies from King's College London where he researched the role of satirical verses and its influence on government rhetoric. His B.A. was completed at Cal Poly Pomona in southern California in English literature. Currently, he is Director of Academic Personnel for UCSC’s Humanities Division. Readings: Act 1 – Act 2, Scene 2.
January 17, Patty Gallagher.
Patty is Professor of Theater Arts at UC Santa Cruz. She is also an Artistic Associate at both Santa Cruz Shakespeare and the Rogue Theatre in Tucson, Arizona. She has served as a theatrical director, movement director, and dramaturg. Foremost, perhaps, she is an actor, often specializing in clown traditions. Her performance credits include many dozens of plays, especially Shakespearean ones, including Henry IV, Part I. She received a Ph.D. in Theatre and Drama at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Readings: Act 2, Scene 3 – Act 3, Scene 2.
January 24, Julia Reinhardt Lupton (to be confirmed).
Julia is Distinguished Professor of English at UC Irvine. She is the author of six books on Shakespeare. As co-director of the UCI Shakespeare Center she organizes seminars and lectures at UC Irvine’s New Swan Shakespeare Festival. She received a Ph.D. in Renaissance Studies from Yale University. Readings: Act 3, Scene 3 – Act 4.
January 31, Abigail Heald
Abigail Heald teaches courses on Shakespeare, early English literature, and film. She is currently teaching a course on Shakespeare’s Henriad (Richard II, Henry IV, Parts I and Part II, and Henry V) at Stanford University. She received a Ph.D. in English from Princeton University and is writing a book on the relationship between art and emotion in Shakespeare’s work. Readings: Act 5.

February 7, DVD showing of The Hollow Crown, Henry IV Part 1,
The production stars Jeremy Irons as King Henry, Tom Hiddleston as Prince Hal, and Simon Russell Beale as Falstaff, and is directed by Richard Eyre.
