Learn the Mishima pottery technique!
About this Event

The Mishima technique, also known as inlaid pottery, is a decorative method used in ceramics to produce detailed and precise designs. It involves carving patterns into the surface of leather-hard clay and then filling these carved lines with a contrasting slip, underglaze, or colored clay.

This six hour class will take place over three weeks, from 9:00am-11:00am, on the following dates: June 13th, 20th, and 27th.

Week 1- students will learn how to hand-build a pottery vessel.
Week 2- students will learn how to trim and practice a surface design technique called Mishima, making their own coloring book page on their piece of pottery.
Week 3- students will finish the Mishima design and color it in!
Instructor: Kara Carlson
Age group: 8-12 yrs
