Seattle author Thomas Lincoln shines a light on what exactly the signing of the Declaration of Independence means for us, as he reads from his book, How We Got to the Moment That Just Passed – A Brief History to Help You Prepare for What’s Next. Join us on July 18th for a special author reading, conversation and book signing on Saturday July 18th 5pm.
BIO-
Long before quitting his job to go wandering in Europe (as recounted in his book, Crossing Saturday Furlong), Thomas Lincoln—who had grown up in the Midwest and acquired a
degree in filmmaking—fled one especially raw northern winter in a van and headed south to what was then universally recognized as the Gulf of Mexico, before turning right toward Hollywood.
Fate had other plans. While living on the beach in Galveston, Texas—stopped to replenish funds via a bartending gig—he was sucked up by the great Houston oil boom of the late 1970’s and converted into a computer programmer. It was a ticket to unimagined riches, but he would be haunted by a sense of unfulfillment that kept him questioning whether he
had veered off on the wrong path.
Today, content with the several directions his life has taken—from starving artist to IT guy to corporate executive to AWOL world traveler to writer and high school world history teacher
(lending inspiration to his book, How We Got to the Moment That Just Passed)—he looks forward to a retirement spent wandering paths new and old.
