Melbourne Mod Pioneers Little Murders Celebrate 45 Years Since Legendary Crystal Ballroom Gig with Explosive George Lane Matinee
Melbourne’s premier music venue, George Lane, is set to host a spectacular Saturday afternoon of pure Mod/power-pop Saturday July 25th. The event celebrates 45 years since the iconic 1981 Mod Invasion gig at the Crystal Ballroom. Fronting the celebration are legendary Little Murders, joined by local rock sensations The Electric Relfs, for a high-octane Matinee performance that promises to tear up the dance floor.
Formed in 1979, Little Murders exploded onto the music landscape with their seminal debut single, "Things Will Be Different", which rapidly transformed into the defining anthem of the Australian Mod movement. Over four decades later, the band is firing on all cylinders. Following the release of their acclaimed album Under Northern Lights, a massive tour of Japan, a song placement in Netflix's Stranger Things, and a recent triumphant appearance at the prestigious Mods Mayday in London, UK, they are returning to their St Kilda roots louder and sharper than ever.
Sharing the billing are The Electric Relfs, a powerhouse four-piece that has been packing out venues across Melbourne. Known for their blistering, sweat-drenched sets, The Electric Relfs deliver a modern, high-energy take on classic rock 'n' roll—fusing the raw grit of Dr. Feelgood with the driving energy of The Who and the sharp melodic hooks of The Buzzcocks.
