Turn simple notebooks into beautiful, stitched treasures!
Discover the art of sashiko, the traditional Japanese stitching technique, with a creative twist. In this relaxing, hands-on workshop, you’ll explore how to use sashiko stitching to embellish soft card notebook covers, creating beautifully textured designs that are both practical and decorative.
Whether you’re new to sashiko or already enjoy hand stitching, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with patterns and stitches to make your notebooks truly individual. Why not create a coordinated set of three notebooks, perfect for keeping alongside your sewing, knitting or other craft projects?
You can bring your own ready-made notebooks to embellish, or create your own from card and paper available on the day. For an extra-special finishing touch, you could even make a fabric pouch to hold your notebooks and a pen, embellished with matching sashiko stitching.
Come along, slow down and enjoy the mindful pleasure of stitching while creating something useful, beautiful and uniquely yours. A lovely workshop for stitchers of all abilities, and a wonderful way to combine creativity with everyday practicality.
Good to know:
The venue has parking. Upon arrival, park in the car park at the front of the shop. Unload your vehicle into your classroom. Staff will then advise you where to park your car for the day at the rear of the complex.
There is disabled parking and ramps allowing access to all areas. There is a disabled toilet.
Staff will help anyone in need of assistance. Shop on site selling an enormous range of goods relating to crafting: dressmaking, patchwork & quilting, knitting & crochet, sewing machines and furniture.
There is a coffee shop on site called O for Coffee. Attendees at our classes are visited by coffee shop staff regularly throughout the day to take any orders. Anything consumed during your day is sold at a 10% discount. As well as a large choice of hot and cold drinks, the menu comprises savoury choices including sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and soups. For those with a sweet tooth, there is a selection of cakes and scones made in-house with gluten-free and vegan options.
