About this Event

The Beautiful Art of Furoshiki

Furoshiki are a traditional Japanese square wrapping cloth, sometimes with decorative sashiko patterning. With a history spanning over 1200 years, today they are used to present gifts, create adjustable pouches, or wrap items such as bento boxes.

In this workshop students will be able to stitch their own furoshiki and learn about the applications of sashiko to enhance every day fabric. Not only will they be able to create an eco-friendly, multi-use cloth, they'll also be able to use the skills taught to apply them towards other hand sewing projects and to refine their craft. This workshop welcomes any skill level and all materials will be provided. Perfect for the upcoming holiday season, furoshiki are not only a beautiful means of wrapping, but also a thoughtful gift in itself."

All materials are provided for this course. All skill levels are welcome and students will be encouraged to work at their own pace.
