Join The Study for an evening with bestselling author Sasha Sagan, whose acclaimed book For Small Creatures Such as We explores one of humanity's oldest questions: How do we find meaning in our lives?

Drawing on science, history, family traditions, and personal experience, Sagan reflects on how people create rituals that help us celebrate life's milestones, navigate loss, build community, and experience awe—even in a world understood through science rather than religion. Inspired in part by the legacy of her parents, renowned astronomer Carl Sagan and writer and producer Ann Druyan, Sasha offers a thoughtful and deeply human perspective on curiosity, connection, and what it means to belong in an immense universe.

Whether you're interested in science, philosophy, religion, culture, or simply thoughtful conversation about the human experience, this event invites you to reflect on the traditions that shape our lives and the ways wonder can enrich everyday living.

Following Sasha's presentation, The Rev. Ernest L. Simmons, PhD, theologian-in-residence and Professor of Religion emeritus at Concordia College, will moderate a live audience Q&A. Dr. Simmons has spent decades exploring the relationship between science and faith and will help guide an engaging conversation with Sasha and the audience.

Sasha Sagan is a writer, speaker, and television producer whose essays and interviews have appeared in The Cut, O, The Oprah Magazine, Literary Hub, and other national publications. Her debut book, For Small Creatures Such as We, was praised by Kirkus Reviews as "profound and elegantly written," and she has been recognized by Inverse magazine as one of its Future 50—people helping shape the decade ahead.

Come be part of an evening that celebrates curiosity, thoughtful dialogue, and the search for meaning through science, storytelling, and shared human experience.
