About this Event

This is our 2nd Annual TV SHOW ACTING session- one of our favorite new traditions. We watch a video about TV show acting at the beginning, then break into acting teams with scripts for scenes from famous TV shows and prepare them. Then we come back and perform them for the group (with scripts in hand). Then we watch the playback together and enjoy! It’s really fun! Learn by doing. Special thank you to our member Steve Suppa, who came up with it.

If you have an idea for a TV show episode/scene, please email Joe Cunningham [email protected]. Joe & Laura will be compiling and printing the scripts for the scenes soon. We can’t guarantee every idea will be used, but we can definitely take suggestions. All genres are welcome. Scenes will be selected with discretion. (Note: What's most helpful is if you have found a link to/PDF of a script, which are hard to find, except for Seinfeld.)

All are welcome! SAS is open to actors of all levels and backgrounds; whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, you are welcome to come and participate or observe. There is no barrier to entry. Please note: No performances this session (monologues, scenes, etc.) because the whole session is performance-based.

Also, we are looking for volunteers to help with setup/breakdown/cleanup; the welcome committee; tech support; photography; catering; and merch. If you’d like to volunteer, contact SAS VP Laura Stisser at [email protected].

As always, at the end, we will have a small amount of time for announcements if anyone wants to plug a show, announce casting, or the like.

After Hours with Jay Merante is back! Stay after and see Jay if you are interested in being a part of his skits that go up on his YouTube channel @JayMeranteComedy (please like & subscribe!).

Although SAS events are always free to attend, we also depend on donations to support the organization and the Palace Theater. We split our donations 50/50 with The Palace and use half to help cover our own expenses. We have a QR code you can scan on your phone to donate to SAS, or you can drop your money in the donations hat.
Concessions are open! The Palace will have drinks and snacks on tap for purchase either with cash, card, or mobile pay. Please help support our host by making a purchase if you can.

*****************

Syracuse Actors Studio is always a free monthly meetup for actors where we learn from and practice acting with each other. Actors of all experience levels are encouraged to attend! Filmmakers, writers, playwrights, producers, casting agents, and observers are also welcome.SAS is open to all. We ask that actors under 18 be accompanied by a parent or guardian for safety purposes. We also note to parents/guardians that some performances or materials may have adult language or subject matter.DISCLAIMER
