About this Event
Join us on Thursday, June 4 at River Row, the new riverfront destination at 444 Front Street in downtown Santa Cruz, where the San Lorenzo River sets the stage for a night of fresh ideas, sharp founders, and community connection.
Doors open at 6:00pm for networking, food, drinks, and the usual mix of founders, operators, investors, engineers, students, and curious locals. Then at 7:00pm, the presentations begin β fast, focused, and straight to the point. This monthβs lineup is seriously stacked:
ποΈ Alamento / Taylor Lane
Alamento uses AI, building inspection data, and decades of field experience to help multifamily property owners spot capital problems before they become expensive emergencies. In a world of rising housing costs, delayed repairs, and aging buildings, Alamento is bringing smarter foresight to the built environment.
βΏ CherryWheels / Gauri Jain
CherryWheels is a women-founded startup creating designer wheel covers for wheelchair users. Their work brings accessibility, design, and self-expression together β turning mobility devices into conversation starters and helping users feel more seen, confident, and empowered.
π Coastal Watershed Council / Laurie Egan
River Row is more than a new address on Front Street. It represents a bigger shift in how Santa Cruz reconnects with the San Lorenzo River β not as something hidden behind downtown, but as a central part of its future. Laurie Egan will speak to the plans for the San Lorenzo River, and why activating spaces like this matters for Santa Cruz.
πΏ Kaimarra / Bates Marshall
Kaimarra is taking on the plastics problem with its KREXβ’ platform, using reactive chemistry inspired by the way tree bark resists decay while staying tough. The result: compostable materials that are cost-competitive with conventional plastic and up to 4x stiffer than incumbents. Sustainable materials, but actually built to scale.
π Scoot Science / Jonathan LaRiviere
Santa Cruz-based Scoot Science uses AI and ocean data modeling to deliver real-time underwater weather forecasts. Their technology helps fish farmers and marine operators understand what is happening beneath the surface, manage risk, and make better decisions across coastal waters. Ocean tech built in Santa Cruz? We love to see it.
βοΈ Standby / Hari Raghavan
Standby is building an AI-powered voice agent to help incarcerated people better understand their rights, charges, and legal procedures. It brings AI into one of the most complicated and high-stakes information gaps: making legal information clearer, more accessible, and available when people need it most.
βοΈ Hillpost / Cyrus Correll & Morris Richman: Hackathons and competitions run on adrenaline, bad spreadsheets, and chaos. Hillpost built Judging.dev β the first open source, AI-native, always-free competition hosting platform β to fix the part every organizer dreads: judging. They've already hosted 1,300+ participants and deployed over $1M in sponsorship credits. Built by two UCSC students. Free forever.
Come for the riverfront setting. Stay for the founders, the conversations, the food, the drinks, and the chance to meet the people shaping whatβs next in Santa Cruz. Food, beverage, live music by Cruz Control, and networking.
AND - there is an abundance of FREE underground parking (see map below). Drive or ride you bike along the Santa Cruz River Walk path. Tour one of the apartments and the Sky Deck while you are there.
