Just two days after our epic master class with the legendary trombonist, Christian Lindberg, the Santa Barbara City College Trombone Ensembles will be presenting their FREE "Slide Show" concert, on Sunday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m. in SBCC's Fe Bland Forum (under the BC building's clock tower on West Campus). This semester's concert will be featuring original compositions and arrangements by two of our own members--our conductor, Cody Duke Anderson, and the director of our Santa Barbara Junior Trombone Choir, Stephen Hughes! The full SBCC Trombone Choir will premiere Cody Anderson's thrilling arrangement of the finale of Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony, a gorgeous setting of Frank Ticheli's hauntingly beautiful "An American Elegy," and an all-trombone arrangement of one of Cody's original works for symphony orchestra, "Empire of the Seals" from his "Carpinteria Suite." The SB Junior Trombone Choir will be premiering a new work by Stephen Hughes entitled "Groovy Tune No. 1," as well as Stephen's setting of "Goleta Gandalf," dedicated to the late great Carlos Maya. And our "8th Position" trombone octet will be showcasing the finale movement of Shostakovich's epic 5th Symphony, arranged by Cody Anderson.
In addition, our "SlideWays" trombone quartet will showcase two of Stephen Hughes' arrangements of some classic pop tunes--Billy Joel's "And So It Goes," and "How Deep Is Your Love" by the BeeGees!
So come on out to SBCC's Fe Bland Forum on Sunday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m. to celebrate America! Oh, and did I mention it's absolutely FREE? Hope to see you there!
