SANKOFAFEST

Building on the success of 2025, the celebration returns as SankofaFest, an expanded three-day festival. As the summer season's anchor, the festival culminates on August 23rd with Sankofa Day, a day centered on remembrance, healing, and the future, marking UNESCO’s International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition, bringing a global moment of reflection into one of Canada’s most prominent public spaces.
The weekend will feature performances, ceremonies, fashion, art installations, film, and community-led activities, bringing together a wide range of voices and experiences across the Square.
