About this Event
In Italy, Sangiovese is king. Few have such deep history and expansive reach within their own borders than this single, prolific varietal. Known by many names, Brunello, Morellino, Prugnolo Gentile and on and on, Sangiovese personifies not only Tuscany but reflects the rise of the Italian wine industry. First mentioned in Soderini’s Treatise on Cultivation of Grape Varieties in 1590, Sangiovese has since been studied, uprooted, grafted, cloned, argued over and nurtured in practically every corner of the Italian peninsula.
In this deep-dive experience, I will lay out the case for this important varietal. Through 8 wines, we will delve into Sangiovese’s history, production and many footprints while revealing compelling tales about the history of its great practitioners. Wines will be presented in a blind-tasting format.
8 wines + light spread of antipasto
