US MARINE CORPS. VETERAN – VIETNAM WARThe family of Mr. Edward James Sanchez, a US Marine Corps. Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.
In Lubbock, Texas, at 76, Eddie passed to live with his beloved Savior Jesus Christ. Eddie was born in Corpus Christi to Annie Marie & Juan C. Sanchez. Eddie often declared he won the parental lottery jackpot.
Eddie graduated from Carroll H.S. The U.S. Army drafted him in 1969. Surprisingly, on the bus he was told he volunteered to be a ‘Proud Marine’ instead.
After his military service, Eddie’s careers included oil field Inspector, chemical processing Operations Manager, and Tanker Driver. Eddie drove over 6 million safe miles across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Eddie possessed a keen intellect and was an accomplished athlete. Into his elder years he continued to evolve his military trained jujitsu skills and marksmanship. Eddie delighted in the sound of a baby’s laughter, silly jokes, complex riddles, and almost all genres of music. He was also a gifted, unbiased, dignified flirt whom through his green eyes saw multitudes of smiles reflected to him throughout his life.
Eddie is survived by: his wife Jeanne; daughters Vanessa Gonzalez & Natalie Fuentes; sons James Sanchez & wife Ana, Edward J. Sanchez, II & wife Laura, M. Mark Sanchez, stepson Charles Iannone; sister Cynthia Valdivia; brothers Roland Sanchez & wife Jacqueline, Jimmy Sanchez & wife Terry; 28 grandchildren & many cherished family & friends.
Eddie is preceded in death by daughter Nicole DeDear; stepson A. Michael Iannone, Jr.; siblings Marie Maldonado, Norma Cavazos, Juan, Joseph, John; & parents.
