San José District 6 Town Hall on Data Centers & Standards
About this Event
Learn about data centers proposed in San José. Speak up about the guardrails you want to protect health, our environment & quality of life.
The City of San José has been actively recruiting developers to build new AI data centers in our city. Several have already been approved and there are many more in the application pipeline that will impact residents and businesses across the city.
While we want more good-paying jobs in San Jose, we also need to protect families across the city. Residents in low-income neighborhoods may be disproportionately affected. We need more job growth in building housing, not making it easier to build highly polluting AI data center build-outs that could affect residents for decades to come.
Come learn more about AI data centers and the kinds of guardrails needed to mitigate their impacts on public health, air and water quality, water consumption, noise, artificial light, the climate, energy use & rates, open space, and wildlife.
Ask questions and share your concerns with your fellow District 6 residents. Residents from other districts are also welcome.
The City Council will be voting Tuesday, December 8 on draft uniform standards for new data centers. This is a key chance to make your voice heard about the protections you want to see!
Hosted by local residents and civic organizations, including Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action, Mothers Out Front Silicon Valley, Green Faith, ILoveSanJose and the Dreaming Collaborative.
