San Francisco Fleet Week, established in 1981 under the leadership of then-Mayor Dianne Feinstein, has evolved into a cherished annual tradition. Fleet Week celebrates America's maritime services and is a tribute to the brave men and women of the US Armed Forces. The San Francisco event has earned national recognition from the US Department of Defense as a model for fleet weeks across the nation, as it fosters collaboration between civilian and military forces, enhances disaster response capabilities and generates over $10 million in annual revenue for the City.
Held every October, the week-long event includes The Parade of Ships through the Golden Gate, showcasing fleet vessels from the maritime sea services; as well as a captivating air show featuring the renowned US Navy Blue Angels exhibition team, the world’s second-oldest aerobatic unit and an international symbol of American naval aviation excellence.
