YOUTH TENNIS SAN DIEGO TO HOST 2026 SAN DIEGO OPEN
FEATURING MEN’S AND WOMEN’S PROFESSIONAL TENNIS TOURNAMENTS
Dual Professional Tennis Event Slated for January 26 – February 1
Professional tennis is returning to San Diego as Youth Tennis San Diego will host the 2026 San Diego Open, featuring a men’s ATP Challenger and an International Tennis Federation Women’s World Tennis Tour event.
Both tournaments will be played from Monday, January 26 through Sunday, February 1 on the outdoor hard courts at Barnes Tennis Center, 4490 W. Point Loma Blvd., San Diego, CA, 92107.
The men’s ATP Challenger will be 100-level tournament offering a total of $177,000 in prize money. There will be a 32-player men’s singles draw and a 16-team men’s doubles draw, along with a 24-player men’s qualifying singles draw. Singles and doubles champions will receive 100 ATP ranking points.
The women’s event is an ITF W100 tournament which will offer $100,000 in total prize money and showcase players who regularly compete on the WTA Tour. There will be a 32-player women’s singles draw and a 16-team women’s doubles draw, along with a 24-player women’s qualifying singles draw. Singles and doubles champions will receive 100 WTA Ranking points.
"We are thrilled to host this dual professional tennis event which will give local youth and sports fans a great opportunity to watch some of the best men’s and women’s tennis professionals in the world," said Barnes Tennis Center / Youth Tennis San Diego CEO Ryan Redondo, who will serve as co-tournament director.
"There will be quite a few players returning from the Australian Open in Melbourne in January who will be looking for a tournament to play when they arrive back in the States. This will be the perfect event for them," Redondo added. "We are anticipating very strong men's and women's player fields."
According to Redondo, the 2026 San Diego Open will make San Diego sports history as it will mark the highest level men’s and women’s tennis tournaments to be played concurrently in the same venue.
“It is going to be an incredible week of professional tennis. We really want to get the community involved to help support this great event,” Redondo said. “Local youth can be part of our ball kid crew during the tournament and we have many marketing and sponsorship opportunities.”
Tournament officials will announce additional tournament information, including ticket sales, match schedules and player entries in the coming weeks.
Earlier this year, Barnes Tennis Center hosted a men’s 100-level ATP Challenger. In early March, American Eliot Spizzirri captured the singles title and teamed with fellow American Tyler Zink to win the doubles championship.
Tickets, which can be purchased at: www.tixr.com/groups/barnestenniscenter, range from $25 for General Admission to early-round matches to $45 for Reserved Seating on the final weekend.
Matches will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, January 26 through Thursday, January 29, and at Noon on Friday, January 30 through Sunday, February 1. Gates at Barnes Tennis Center will open one hour before the first match each day.
