San Diego Behavioral Health CE Series

In moments of suicidal or homicidal crisis, traditional talk therapy may not be enough. In this training Karisa Kloscak, LPCC, introduces sensory-based, attachment-informed strategies to help clinicians co-regulate with dysregulated clients and restore embodied safety.

Grounded in Somatic Experiencing, polyvagal theory, and developmental attachment, this session offers practical tools for relational safety, nonverbal attunement and creative interventions, especially for clients overwhelmed by internal chaos. Participants will receive a mandala starter kit and leave with a toolkit of gentle yet powerful techniques to support regulation, connection and hope.

You Will Learn To

· Identify nervous system states and attachment patterns linked to acute ideation.

· Apply sensory-based tools to support regulation during crisis.

· Maintain clinician presence and attunement in high-acuity sessions.

· Integrate nonverbal and relational strategies to enhance safety and trust.

Note: This training complements existing crisis protocols and ethical standards—it does not replace them.

CE’s available for most Counselors, Psychologists and Mental Health providers, Social Workers. Please check with your board.
