New bal lab format for beginner and intermediate dancers! We are now offering two classes with an optional open/guided practice. General format is below followed by class descriptions and pricing.
General format:
1-2 pm: Bal Lab 1
2:10-3:10 pm: Bal Lab 2
3:10-3:30 pm: Snacks
3:30-4:30 pm: Open OR guided practice
April dates: classes will be held on all Saturdays in April except on 4/18. There will be no bal lab on 4/18.
Cost: individual classes are $15. If you wish to attend Bal Lab 1 and 2, then $25 for both. The open/guided practice is included with both classes or pay the $10 studio floor fee if not attending class.
Class: Bal Lab 1
Time: 1 - 2 pm
Level: Beg / Beg+
Cost: $15
Description: standalone class catered to the attendees each week. Drop in whenever. Depending on who is there, we’ll either divide the class into beginners and beginners+ or keep everyone together. If you don’t feel ready for intermediate classes, or you need a refresher, join us here to hone your skills until you’re ready to move up. If you are an absolute beginner, I highly recommend learning the three basic footwork patterns solo from YouTube before coming to class. This will help you get the most out of class time. In YouTube, search for “balboa uphold basic,” “balboa downhold basic,” and “balboa out and ins.” Please feel free to ask other attendees to continue practicing when class ends. You are also welcomed to observe Bal Lab 2 and join in the open/guided practice

Time: 2:10 - 3:10 pm
Level: intermediate
Cost: $15
Description: standalone class. Drop in whenever. Pure bal and bal swing material ranging from combos to connection to higher level concepts. Must be able to comfortably lead/follow toss outs, lollies, and out and ins, and be comfortable dancing an entire song in pure bal.

Time: 3:10 - 3:30 pm
Level: professional snack eaters only
Description: bal lab has the best snacks
Class: Open or guided practice
Time: 3:30 - 4:30 pm
Cost: included with class or $10
Level: open to all but a guided practice might be based on higher level material
Description: this will vary weekly between an open practice or a guided practice. During an open practice feel free to dance solo or partnered, and ask us questions or work on things with other attendees. Guided practices will be more structured where we’ll set intentions and rotate partners like we would in a class.
