Samhain Day of the Dead Conscious Dance Session

SunFire Dance invites you to dance as gently or as wildly as you wish at this special conscious dance event honouring Samhain / Day of the Dead. We commemorate and celebrate our dead, revel in life, inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead and Celtic Samhain.

Fancy dress is welcome if you feel inspired. Or come as you are.

We honour our ancestors that have gone before us. We honour our loved ones lost and missed. Death is something that we all experience and we can come together as a community at this time of year, on these hallowed eves, when the veil is thin between the spirit world and the living. Our dance floor is a sacred space for you to surrender in your dance. Dance your grief, dance your loss, dance your pain and release it on the dance floor. Dance your remembrance, dance your longing, dance your hope, dance your broken heart out. The floor is yours.

This is a sober gathering of our dance community. Everyone is welcome. Whether you have experience in conscious dance or are completly new to the practice, you are very welcome. Our intention is that you can release any stressful emotions, let go of worries and loose yourself in the music and the dance. Dance freely in this transformative practice, and be open to receive the blessings of the dance.

Dress in comfortable clothes that you can move in and bring water to drink. We will serve herbal teas after the dance, and a light fruit snack to share.

We dance at the Picadilly Ballroom, 23 Bath Road, Bournemouth, Dorset BH1 2NN, which has a sprung maple floor and is situated to the left hand side of the main entrace. Follow the steps leading down into the ballroom space. Signs will be posted.

HOW TO GET THERE: Follow the satnav to BH1 2NN. There is free parking on site on a first come first served basis. Street parking on surrounding roads. Paid parking lot at Berry Court Car Park (BH1 2LF) or Lansdowne Parking (BH1 3NS).

By Bus: You can catch the 5a/6/12/13/M1 bus.

PLEASE NOTE:

1) This is a free flowing conscious dance. There are no steps to follow. The facilitators may offer guidance during the dance. You are free to follow their guidance or dance to your own rhythm. This is your dance journey, you are invited to follow your own feet and heartbeat.

2) We dance barefoot (or in dance shoes) so that we can connect to the earth.

3) There is a safe space for you to leave your belongings, shoes, jackets. We prefer to keep our dancefloor as free as possible.

4) Sounds are welcome but please do not speak on the dancefloor. If you feel you need to have a conversation, please do so in the lounge area.

5) This is a sober event. So please show up for yourself and others in a sober state.

6) No phones or devices on the dance floor. Please put these on silent throughout the session.

Judez has a background in drama, dance, voice, and breathwork therapy. Her love for dance started young at the countless celebrations at her (party animal) Granny's home. She is driven to recreate this sense of family, unconditional love and connection, freedom and joy in the dance within a conscious dance community. Conscious dance has been a vital part of her life
