SAME Houston/Galveston Post 2024 Installation Banquet

Please join us for the Houston/Galveston Post Installation Banquet as we recognize those who have been key in the success of our Post during the past year with our keynote speaker, SAME National President-Elect Michael Huffstetler.

With over 37 years in the A/E/C industry, Mr. Huffstetler serves as SAME President-Elect on the National Leadership Team and leads all Federal Programs for DLR Group, a proud SAME corporate member since 1987 and an award-winning international planning-architecture-engineering firm since 1966. Mr. Huffstetler’s professional experience includes a unique combination of end-user, project delivery, and project execution experience.

As a military end-user, he served as an Air Force Civil Engineering Officer and Project Engineer driving requirements in multiple base-level CE assignments. His government delivery experience was centered around two successive USAF Officer Exchange Program assignments managing projects within the US Army Corps of Engineers, first with the USACE Transatlantic Division and later with the USACE Baltimore District supporting both CONUS and OCONUS MILCON and contingency operations programs.

His project execution experience began in 1998 with multiple private sector roles including 9 years as a project manager in the commercial aviation sector working on capital improvement programs at Washington-Reagan, Washington-Dulles, Atlanta-Hartsfield, and Miami-Dade airports. This was followed internationally by expanded PM and Operational responsibilities on projects across the middle east and North Africa before returning to the Federal market as a project Principal and business development executive. A SAME member since 1988, Mr. Huffstetler lives in Omaha, Nebraska and has served as a post volunteer, student mentor and Omaha Post Board member since 2016. Nationally, he has served on multiple committees, the national Board of Direction and the Executive Committee (XC) since 2020 and was inducted into the SAME Academy of Fellows in 2021. In March 2024, he and his wife Maribeth celebrated 36 years of marriage. They have 6 children, two of whom have also served in the US military.
