Through his extraordinary vision, devotion, and lifelong dedication to the art, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra played a defining role in shaping Odissi into the classical dance tradition known and celebrated around the world. His artistry, choreography, teaching, and profound understanding of music, literature, abhinaya, and movement continue to inspire generations of dancers and audiences.

This commemorative recital honors his remarkable life and enduring legacy through an evening of grace, rhythm, storytelling, and devotion—celebrating the many facets of the tradition he nurtured and passed on to generations of artists.

We are deeply honored to welcome renowned Odissi artist Arushi Mudgal, accompanied by Shalakha Rai and Sawani Mudgal, for this special presentation. Their artistry will bring to life the depth, beauty, and expressive richness of the Odissi tradition while paying homage to the legacy of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.

Presented in Chicago by Aikyam ODC Chicago, in collaboration with Natya and Gandharva Mahavidyalaya North America, this celebration brings together the community in appreciation of one of India’s greatest artistic legacies.
