La Borinqueña Orquestra’s big salsa sound, hard hitting tunes and intense rhythmic drive caters to the dancers in the crowd. Catchy melodies and impactful horn arrangements come together in a perfect blend of classic and aggressive salsa styles.

The group emerged out of a project commissioned by the Lulaworld festival back in 2016, with the intention of highlighting the music of Puerto Rico. The project has evolved to include Bolaños’ original compositions alongside classic Puerto Rican repertoire.

Leader of La Borinqueña, bassist Ruddy Bolaños has been contributing to Toronto’s Latin music scene since the early 90s and has toured and recorded across North America with the likes of Tito Rojas, Eddie Santiago and Son de Cali.
