Salsa is a Latin dance influenced by several styles, like mambo and rumba. The dance is characterized by energetic footwork, spins, and turns. We teach On1, which is characterized by a lot of spinning and dancing in a slot (unlike Cuban or Cumbia styles). This night will feature live music by Tumbao. Carlos Cascante y Su Tumbao have ignited dance floors with explosive salsa sound since 2001. 3x grammy-winning vocalist Carlos Cascante and powerhouse pianist Julio Jauregui blend vibrant melodies and fiery rhythm with the exceptional talents of Edson Otero (percussion), Jeff Busch (drums), Dean Schmidt (bass), and Nathan Vetter (trumpet).
Their irresistible performances pulse with energy, drawing salsa dancers and music lovers alike. They play a wide variety of Latin styles all rooted in the Cuban tradition ranging from Son Montuno, Cha Cha Cha, Danzon, Guaracha, Bolero, Mambo, Rumba Guaguanco, Timba and other dance styles. Original compositions from their albums, Recuerdos and Hablando en Serio, have resonated with audiences across the Pacific Northwest, as well as New York and Mexico City, leaving audiences exhilarated and dance floors alive with motion.
Carlos Cascante y Su Tumbao don’t just play music—they create a celebration, a vibrant invitation for dancers to move, connect, and lose themselves in the heartbeat of Latin rhythm.
