Join our weekly classes and feel more connection & confidence on the dance floor.
Experience personalized attention in our small group classes, where you'll receive extensive individual feedback.
In our “Salsa Cubana” classes we teach Casino, a dance developed in the 1950s in clubs and streets of Cuba. In our basic technique, we dance connected through constant forward walking, keeping the energy of our dance in the centre of the two partners to gain a beautiful flow on the dance floor.
Connection is key in our classes. We emphasize the art of leading and following, while also encouraging you to play with each other in both dance roles. This breaks repetitive patterns and cultivates a greater sense of freedom and awareness on the dance floor.
Another focus of our Casino classes is the richness of Cuban Music. It invites us to interpret it in a huge variety of ways. You will gain a solid foundation in musicality, specifically Timba (often referred to as Salsa Cubana), allowing you to express the music's energy and interpret its various phases. Additionally, you'll learn to identify and respond to musical accents and navigate more intricate patterns inspired by other genres.
As we love Son and Rumba Guaguanco, we mostly enrich our Casino style with elements of those two dances. We also add gestural elements and footwork from other (overall Cuban) dance styles such as Chachacha, Rumba Columbia & more.
Our teaching goals are to help you: 1. to dance with a lot of fun and freedom, 2. to transform yourself into a dance partner that people enjoy dancing with. For us, this means having a proper technique, leading and following pleasantly but clearly and respecting how others want to express themselves on the dance floor.
