Salem Reads 2025: Community Art Exhibition at Salem Public Library. Exhibition Dates: January 27-March 1, 2025Location: Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St. SE, Salem, OR 97301
Salem, OR – The Salem Art Association and the Salem Public Library Foundation are pleased to announce a unique collaboration for Salem Reads 2025, with an exhibition inspired by this year’s selected book, Why Didn’t You Tell Me? by Carmen Rita Wong. The exhibition will run throughout February 2025 at the Salem Public Library and is open to the public, showcasing works by eight local artists.
Salem Reads is an annual community reads project that encourages residents of Salem to read the same book, participate in thought-provoking discussions, and attend related programs. The Salem Public Library Foundation, which funds this program, sees Salem Reads as a vital initiative to bring the community together, enhance the visibility of the library, and spark important conversations on topics relevant to our time.
This year’s selection, Why Didn’t You Tell Me? by Carmen Rita Wong, explores themes of family, identity, and belonging, offering ample opportunity for meaningful engagement and dialogue within our community. In alignment with the book’s themes, the exhibition will feature works by Dayna Collins, Laura Dahl, Corrine Loomis Dietz, Alycia Helbling, Ryan Hopper, Carlos Marquez, Laurel Thompson, and H. Eliz IV Snowcarp, all of whom were selected through a curated process and an open call to local artists.
