Join us for an engaging walking tour exploring local stories and heritage.Gather on the steps for a short introduction, then walk across the street to begin the walk, which should include some history about the Parkway Terrace streets, Cottage Inn, and Bradley Ave.
Also on the tour: Miller Ave., Our Mother of Soros, and the Anna Haines House, the commercial core of the old A&P store, the original Walgreen and Kroger sites, Samuel Churchill’s springhouse and mansion (no longer standing but there will be pictures), the Churchills’ old orchard on Ridgewood Ave., the Wm. Ising house on Harrison Ave, then back around to Eastern Parkway with some comments on its history and design, comments on the 2011 flood, then back to our starting point to learn about the old St. Joseph Infirmary (the area’s namesake institution), and Lourdes Hall.
Bring a water bottle, walking shoes, and invite your neighbors! This is a family and dog-friendly outdoors event.
