Local author, Linda Hampton, will be talking about her debut novel, Sailing to the Moon, on Friday 8th May from 5pm-6.30pm in the inspiring and welcoming environment of Tea Amantes.Sailing to the Moon is her first novel, but Linda has written poetry, short stories for children, and numerous play scripts for children and adults to perform.
Five years in the making, Sailing to the Moon is a story about the invisible ties that connect two people over a lifetime, the struggle to break them and the need to protect them. The main protagonists, Lily and Max, delve into their past of white truths, grey maybes and the imagined technicolour version of their relationship, as their story explores how they seek to come to terms with their irrepressible, unbreakable connection.
One reviewer wrote,
“A stunning debut novel. I found it impossible to put down for too long as I wanted to know what came next for Lily and Max. I almost wanted to shout at Max to tell Lily how he really felt. Sailing to the Moon, is a reminder to all of us that life is for living and not to put off happiness to a future date.”
Linda will be talking about the novel and where inspiration comes from, as well as pondering aloud on the writing process in general and how it varies from one writer to the next. Questions from the audience are warmly welcomed.
Linda will be bringing along some copies of Sailing to the Moon, and a nice pen in case you would like her to sign your book.
