In an era of escalating authoritarianism, widening inequalities, and persistent threats to academic freedom, the higher education community has the potential to be a vital force for global solidarity. But what can be done to resist current anti-democratic trends? What is the role of education in the fight for vibrant democracies and human rights? And how do we make our universities sites of active solidarity in this pivotal moment in history?
The SAIH Conference 2025 brings together scholars, students, policymakers, and activists to explore these urgent questions, in the intersection between academia and activism. We will examine the role of academia in defending democratic values, fostering international solidarity and shaping a more just and equitable future.

I møte med autoritære krefter på fremmarsj, økende ulikehet og vedvarende trusler mot helt grunnleggende rettigheter, kan studenter og akademikere spille en avgjørende rolle for internasjonal solidaritet. Men hva kan vi egentlig gjøre i møte med anti-demokratiske globale trender? Hva er utdannings rolle i kampen for levende demokratier og grunnleggende menneskerettigheter? Og hvordan kan vi gjøre våre universiteter og høyskoler til arenaer for aktiv solidaritet på dette avgjørende punktet i historien?
SAIH-konferansen 2025 samler forskere, studenter, beslutningstakere og aktivister for å utforske disse spørsmålene, i skjæringspunktet mellom akademia og aktivisme. Vi vil undersøke akademias rolle i å forsvare demokratiske verdier, i å fremme internasjonal solidaritet og i å skape en mer rettferdig verden.
