SAHIR , MAJROOH AUR BURMAN

Swaradaa proudly presents its 'Sahir, Majrooh aur Burman' at Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Natyagruha, Vile Parle, Mumbai on 06/09/2026 at 8:45 PM onwards.

Sahir Ludhianvi and Majrooh Sultanpuri, true wizards of words whose songs have ruled billions of hearts in this century, will continue to rule. "Jaane woh kaise log the" by Sahirji and "Hum bekhudi mein tumko pukare" by Majroohji cater to different philosophies of life, but their lyrics are soul-touching. Both of them had the greatest associations with S.D. Burman and R.D. Burman, respectively.

Sahirji's association with S.D. Burman began with the evergreen song "Thandi Hawaen Lehra Ke Aaye," which captured the freshness of young love in the movie Naujawan. The duo created everlasting melodies in 18 movies until Pyaasa, their last film together in 1957.

R.D. Burman's first superhit film as a music director was Teesri Manzil. Burman gave credit to lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri for recommending him to Nasir Hussain, the producer and writer of the film. Teesri Manzil had six songs, all of which were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Nasir Hussain went on to sign R.D. Burman and lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri for six of his films, including Baharon Ke Sapne, Pyar Ka Mausam, and Yaadon Ki Baaraat. Majroohji penned lyrics for many R.D. Burman movies, all immensely successful.  

Let's recreate the magic of these four maestros—S.D. Burman, Sahir, R.D. Burman, and Majrooh—in a musical concert.

This show will be performed with a 14-piece orchestra with well-known music arrangers Prashant Lalit and Omkar Devaskar.
